Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG)

The Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) provides world-class postgraduate education to senior executives and emerging leaders in the public sector. It offers participants the opportunity to study and learn alongside colleagues from jurisdictions across Australia and New Zealand and is a highly sought after scholarship attracting outstanding candidates.

The Commission offers three distinct ANZSOG programs:

  • Applied Learning Program
  • Executive Master of Public Administration
  • Executive Fellows Program

Applied Learning Program

The Applied Learning Program is a collaboration between the Commission and ANZSOG. This program aims to offer targeted CEO and SES forums as well as policy and practitioner seminars/workshops that provide:

  • an opportunity for informed debate and dialogue about innovative and cutting-edge ideas
  • access to pre-eminent thinkers of national and international standing
  • development of the capability of Western Australia's current and emerging leaders
  • the opportunity for practitioners to share ideas and build networks across government.

Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) Program

A two-year, part time, post graduate degree designed for executives and emerging leaders to further develop management and policy skills.  The EMPA aims to prepare participants for the demands and challenges of delivering value to the community in an increasingly complex public service environment.  Participants will study with colleagues from all over Australia and New Zealand. They will attend workshops in Perth, the eastern State capitals and Wellington over the next  two years, and undertake a comprehensive work-based project and two electives with partnering universities. 

Target Group: PSGA Level 8 and above (or equivalent) and emerging leaders.

Availability: 10 scholarship places (bi-annually)

Next Intake: To be advertised in June 2013 for commencement in February 2014.

Executive Fellows Program (EFP)

A three-week residential program tailored for senior executives, building on the core relationship and management skills needed in the public sector.  The EFP brings together 80 senior executives and is facilitated by leading academics and experienced practitioners from Australia, New Zealand and overseas. The learning environment is engaging and dynamic, focusing on real-life issues and challenges faced by senior public sector executives in State, Commonwealth and New Zealand governments.

Target Group: Senior Executives (Tier 1 or 2)

Availability: 3 places (annually)
