Website Domain Name Policy

What is it?

This policy provides the requirements for the registration and administration of WA Government website domain names.

The policy aims to:

  • reduce the proliferation of domain names 
  • consolidate and rationalise the way in which WA Government online information and services are provided to deliver a consistent user experience 
  • promote and present WA Government online information and services as being part of the WA Government corporate identity, in line with Common Badging principles
  • improve content discovery through accurate whole-of-government content capture and search capabilities 
  • help protect the unique identity of the WA Government brand name 
  • provide website users with the confidence that the website presents trusted and accurate content.

What is required?

All WA Government agencies are required to apply the policy to their websites. 

All ‘wa.gov.au’ sub-domain applications must be lodged through ServiceNet.
